Data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia (CSB) August 11 show that, compared to the second quarter of 2019, in the second quarter of 2020 construction output reduced by 0.6 % (according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices).
On November 17, construction work on Rail Baltica's central network in Rīga is scheduled to start, project implementer Eiropas Dzelzceļa Līnijas said October 19.
Rail Baltica is the largest infrastructure project in the Baltic States over the past 100 years. Railway lines of 870 km in length are to be built. Total costs in Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania are EUR 5.8 billion. 81%-85% of the projects will be financed by the European Union (EU), whereas the rest will be covered by each country.
